5 critical reasons you should give working with us serious thought.

We’re the Bookadda family of sites. Bookadda.com, acadzone.com and now koolskool.com are all part of the household. We are looking for a Writer. Here’s why you will want to work with us:

1. We’re proud of what we do. And we do it well.

We are a young company with a fun loving bunch of people who love what they do. While we are a family of e-commerce sites, we find our work immensely rewarding because it is about spreading happiness and knowledge. We also believe firmly in making our customers’ lives easier. Which means that we must, reliably and lovingly, serve the thousands of booklovers, students, professionals, and harried parents who reach out to us every day and buy on our sites. We’re fortunate to be able to make their lives a tad bit easier. It makes us proud that they feel they can depend on us and we’re very particular about living up to their expectations.

2. We’re a start-up.

Sure, this does mean that we’re always a bit stretched for everything. But it’s also great for your career. Because you’ll get to do a lot more around here. You’ll be given more responsibility and be expected to live up to it. Your learning curve will go up a lot faster than it would in a conventional company. You’ll need to work hard and contribute a lot more. But what’s great is that you’ll never be a ‘body’. You’ll always count; your opinion will matter.. okay, let’s be real, most of the time it will. Think about it as going to entrepreneurial university and being paid for it too!

3. We’re in the ‘with it’ space.

Where our industry goes, the rest of the world follows. That’s the great part about being in a sunrise industry like ecommerce. You’ll never have to worry about being outdated or redundant. These are the best of times; these are the worst of times. The best simply because there is so much to be done, so much to be learned and so much to be discovered. You’ll never have a dull moment at work. The worst because no matter how much you accomplish, and make no mistake, every day will be filled with achievement, you’ll never feel you can lean back or feel you’ve done enough. It’s the frontier of retail, the cutting edge of marketing! But keep working and learning and find solace in that your market value will never take a dip!

4. We’re in the growth phase.

We  aren’t blasé. We haven’t been there or done it all. Each day we learn, we adapt, we change, we get used to living with risk and the possibility of failure. We live on the edge, we face our fears and come out on top. Every single day. Our jobs celebrate our ingenuity, our grit and ability to run with the ball. In other words, we live an exciting life, fraught with adventure. It’s a new day and we don’t know what lesson it will teach us. Would you rather be an accountant?

5. We’re really about people.

Yes, we do work with some of the latest technology and smart algorithms and obsess about analytics but in the end, our business is really about people. What does the data say about people’s behaviours, how do the figures make people’s habits come alive. Does the UX deliver the wonderful experience that online shopping should be? It’s about making sure that little kid in Hampi, with a busy Mom and Dad, discovers a wonderful book that begins him on a reading  journey for the rest of his life. It’s equally about helping an ambitious, hard-working young student do online preparation for that important exam. It’s also about helping a grandad find the right family game for that holiday weekend.

We’re here to help people with that wonderful, crazy and mysteriously rewarding journey called life. And one of those people could be you.

*A good sense of humour is a serious added advantage. Laughing about your day helps. Seriously!

Here’s how to get an adrenaline rush every day of your work life:

We’re looking for:  A Writer who is a booklover, a reader who likes people; a dynamo who wants to learn the ropes of managing content and using it to market to customers – someone who’s full of beans and who can learn faster than we can teach! You’ll be beginning with Blogposts, Facebook pages, tweets and pins… but we expect you to take on emailers and newsletters and then manage these properties too, as soon as you get the hang of them. Further, you’ll be expected to be a ‘thinking’ member of the team and we expect to learn from you as much as you will learn from us! Is that too much of an expectation?

One year of experience would be good; two years works better.

1. Please send us three pieces that you have written – must be at least 300 words each. One of these pieces should be a book review of a book you have recently read.

2. Also give us a list of the five books that have inspired you the most, and why.

3. A resume with your background and why you want to be a writer.
