TheRodinhoods

All it took was one Rodinhoods’ Open House (07 Dec 2012)

An idea is like a virus, resilient, highly contagious. The smallest seed of an idea can grow. It can grow to define or destroy you. – Inception

First of all I am writing this post for myself and on behalf of my friend Vinit Gala as well, since we both are working on combining our ideas in the same business model. (At least hoping to)

After the first time I ever went out on a date nothing else made me more anxious, nervous and excited like the December Open House of Rodinhood did, which was on 07th of December. After all it was the first that I and Vinit, my best friend, were going to present our ideas in front of a crowd which consisted of industry luminaries. After a few nervous handshakes and exchanging pleasantries we took the seats and then the feeling of anxiety and consciousness started penetrating our heads and started wondering when we were supposed to go up and present.

Soon thereafter Akancha announced the sequence of the presentations, and there we were Vinit on the 3rd slot and me on the 4th. We had papers in our hands about the logical sequence for the idea to flow and what all should be said. Vinit stood out as the anti-Gujarati and me as ‘Satan at wink’ as the anagram of my name. So here are our presentations once again for anyone who might have missed it:

What we were looking for:

  1. Someone to guide us through, to make a proper model
  2. Validation whether the idea is good enough to pursue
  3. Moral support, feedback and any further improvements and ideas.

What we got:

  1. Abhinaav Sarangi, someone who had a similar idea and worked 18months on it in Bangalore.
  2. Even Alok was on consensus about the potential of India’s huge mobile handset market.
  3. Lots of feedback, ideas and a total new approach for the same idea thus increasing options.

The Open House only added to our vigor and firmed our determination further that somewhere someone from ‘TheRodinhoods’ community would be able to help us in future, if any problem arises. As we gain by what we learn from rodinhoods and by applying our ideas in reality hope we would be able to give back the same to someone like us in future.

From,

Vinit Gala & Ankit Sawant
