Diabeto – Your Friend in Diabetes is up for Pre-orders on Indiegogo!

What is Diabeto?

Diabeto is a hardware device which wirelessly transmits blood glucose readings from a glucometer into a smartphone. These readings can then be easily analyzed with the help of smartphone application (Both for iOS and Android). The entire system is cloud based and helps in easy manageability of Diabetes.

Beautiful Design

Design is as important as technology to us! Rather, its usable, functional design which is appealing to every age group was the top priority. That’s what we came up with (And this is not just an idea, below are the actual images of the alpha testing prototypes which were shipped to alpha testers across the world)

We have been researching on Diabeto to take away the pain of Diabetes management since 3 years. Finally after 6 prototypes, countless testing and alpha testing in UK with the help of University College London, we are taking pre-orders on Indiegogo in order to reach the manufacturing stage and to get Diabeto in your hands. 
And here is where we need your help, we need to get the word out to as many people as possible. So if you want to bring smile on the children or your parents living with diabetes then do share and lets fight diabetes together with Diabeto – Your friend in Diabetes.

Conclusions:
How did we do so far?
We achieved our goal in the 1st week itself. 
How did we do it?
  1. We researched about the crowdfunding secrets for 6 months
  2. It took us more than a month to make the campaign page on Indiegogo
  3. We started marketing our product since the day we started working on it. This was to validate, get known to your target audience and to create a community.
  4. Advertising is important but not the best always
  5. Its very important to get your campaign trending right from day one. This is based on the gogo factor which enables you to get featured on the home page and also get you into their newsletters. Here is more info on the gogo factor
The major contributors on the 1st week were friends, family and the Diabeto fans who had been waiting to get their hands on Diabeto.
For social outreach we used a platform called as Thunderclap. This helps in making your campaign trend on the day of your launch. This also helps you get noticed by media which makes it easy to get featured in news.
It was very difficult to target Diabetes as a category on most of the advertising platform. So here is what we did.
On Facebook we did interest based targeting and on Google Adwords we did a category targeting for health and Diabetes as a category on display network.
Interestingly we also found out about Reddit advertising which also helped us get to our target audience.
Sadly 90% of our contributions came from our fan base. Only 10% came from advertising.
We are still taking orders for more 38 days. Every $ counts. Do refer this campaign to anyone you know is living with diabetes. You can also order/gift it to your friends and family.
Also, we might not be the best in marketing. If there are any new ideas which a fellow TRH has for marketing this will help. Do send us your feedback on the same by commenting on this post.
