I want to be the Ola of Trucking!

Please help validate/review my logistics startup idea.

My idea is to provide a RELIABLE TRUCK service which will help to move your things – be it machines, any raw material or household, just anything from place A to B.

This idea has been in my mind for now over past 3 months. I currently manufacture board paper at Chandrapur, Maharashtra and trading at Nagpur, Maharashtra and have named it Lotus Board Industries. (my previous post was regarding suggesting name for my company from rodinhooders).

Touchwood, my machines and business both have got rolling, within 40 days of starting operation, money has also got comfortably rolling. Well, that’s other part of the story and would soon share my experience of setting up a factory and starting a manufacturing business in India.

Now, the major problem I face in this business or say which retards my business is truck transport. Right from raw material coming in my factory to finished good going out its all done by truck logistics. I find it very hard to find a good transport service which would get raw material in time and deliver it in time and that too at reasonable price. Many times I am not able to sell products on a particular date and time because the truck which I had booked didn’t come on time and I couldn’t track them either.

I do feel there is a major lacuna in transport business:

These are the few problems I want to solve. I do feel this has exponential potential.

I don’t want customers to get reports from logistics providers, “Sir maal nikal gaya hai aata hi hoga” or damaged products.

Revenue would be definitely on commission basis and model + tech would be similar to cab service providers. I can discuss it in detail with like minded people and those who are interested. I would also need a co-founder/mentor to help me before starting up.

Pls help me understand pros & cons, also any other tips and advice before I plan to startup.
