Silent member wakes up – my first venture :Dress my :Phone

Fellow Rodinhoods,

After months of silently following this forum and reading the informative posts and scraping posts for knowledge and experience, I am posting my first post here on the forum.

First of all, I am deeply appreciative of the Rodinhood community for awesome encouragement and especially Alok Sir for starting this wonderful community.

A year ago, I had an idea about business. The challenge was that I did not have the mindset or the skills to begin. Fast-foward a year of learning, frustration and a broadening of context, I have finally begun my journey as an entrepreneur with my first venture :Dress my :Phone (www.dressmyphone.in)

The Why

The reason I started this business is pretty simple. Mobile phones and our electronic gadgets are extremely important. In-fact, they are so important that there is a disorder related to missing mobile (Nomophobia). Being such an important part of our lives, our mobile phones are particularly boring and similar looking. Imagine going to an apparel store and finding all apparels in plain black and white. No designs or just a couple of choices in colors. Boring right. Here is where Dressmyphone comes in. We provide with colorful, beautiful and designer cases and accessories for your phone. When you wear clothes wearing that reflect your personality, why should your mobile phone be left behind?

The Challenges

As an engineer by profession and being in a IT job for 2 years, I had no skills or even the mindset to run a business. The full year of preparation includes studying everything about business including Hosting, shopping carts, logistics, UI, UX, IP, funding, conversion analysis, email marketing, web analytics, customer development, sales, PPC, social media marketing, SEO and everything else that I could lay my hands on. It was overwhelming at times.

The Verdict

Starting my business has been a lot of fun and painful at the same time. I invite all the Rodinhoods to visit my website Dress my Phone and give me feedback about how I am doing. Feedback about the website, products, product photographs, site UI and everything else is more than welcome. 🙂

Do check out the blog as well, I post interesting content about mobile phones and mobile phone tech in general. The link is https://www.dressmyphone.in/blog
