Startups are always in beta!

OUR BIG BANG:

We introduced appsurfer.com yesterday. Seeing a product grow, mature is a very satisfying experience. With an ambition of having my own startup I joined appsurfer.com a few months back. Coming from a corporate world the experience of working in a startup was overwhelming. The one thing i learnt working in a startup is that we have to adjust and change every day, every hour and every minute.

THE U TURN:

Initially appsurfer.com was started off for android app developers to showcase applications to their clients without having to give their installable files. Meeting a few people at various competitions we understood that this use case was very limited and we could solve a bigger problem and be more useful as a company. We started looking at our product through an android user’s perspective and with some heated debates and discussions we came to a conclusion that we will help android app users discover apps by instantly trying them in the browser. Our entire perspective changed over night.

NEED TO BE ON YOUR BEST GAME EVERYDAY:

Sadly to match the pace of perspectives is no joke. Technologically we had to change our course evolve and accommodate for a much larger use case. Change is one thing that we have gotten accustomed in a startup. The other day i was jokingly telling my colleague “5 years of corporate work must be equivalent to 5 months of startup work.”The pace and changing tides seem to consume you in a startup, but the amount of knowledge and experience you consume in the process is amazing.

In a startup every day is a challenge and we have to be at the top of our game every day. The other day we had to test our site for maximum concurrent users. Being a startup we are always experiencing inflation. Keeping in mind affordability we had to write the test on our own. Our development team was already busy with other bug fixes. Our marketing team got their hands dirty into development and wrote a small google chrome plugin for the same. This is what happens in startups nothing is defined and everyday you are challenged.

STARTUPS ARE ALWAYS IN BETA!

It is rightly said, “More work is the only reward for your work in a startup.” Startups are always in beta. You can never say everything is done or everything is perfect at any point.
