THE PITCH – Behind the Scenes

When we shot for THE PITCH, I had never met nor heard of  Boman Irani.

However, in the 12 hours that passed compressed in a room with and 2 other Jury members, I learnt some valuable lessons that day:

Boman told us that he was a potato chip shopkeeper in Tardeo for most of his young adult life, and movies happened later. This means that fortune and fame comes at any time – usually later than sooner.

There was so much humility in the entire shoot! The contestants, the jury members and the crew – it was amazing. Magic happens when humble people assemble

Young entrepreneurs in India have so much passion and confidence! One of the first few contestants was a young lady who spoke so openly and candidly about her invention of underwear for women that prevented staining during menstrual cyles. I was stunned at her resolve to look at 4 men of the Jury and explain in detail what a woman faces when she has here menstrual cycle and how she had a business plan to circumvent it.

It was so interesting to see how folks took bullets of criticisms shot at them! I said very rude things and it was amazing how polite people were.

UTV did an amazing job of keeping the 12 hours perfectly managed. We started late, but the shoot was flawless.

In the end, I was drunk – on entrepreneurship.
