Feedback about this business idea

Hi Rodinhooders,

I was recently going through some DIY ecommerce platforms in India which allow small businesses and entrepreneurs to design and launch their own ecommerce store. Even though the designing and launching part might be easy, one of the major hassles (for all newly started ecommerce stores) is uploading and adding their products at the backend of their website.

How about a biz which allows business owners to get their products uploaded at the backend of their ecommerce store for a small fee?  Basically it’s about outsourcing product uploading work.

The customer or client has to just give the details/images of his products and the data entry operators (freelancers working with me or myself) will quickly start adding the products at the backend of the client’s ecommerce site. The client has to pay a small fee (on per product basis or a fixed charge) once the entire set of products have been successfully uploaded.

Some of the Benefits for the Client are:

1. Saves time.

2. Allows the client to focus on more important tasks like site promotion, marketing, customer service etc.

3. Gets the work done professionally at much faster speed.

4. No need to hire new or engage existing workforce in this kind of work.

I would like to know whether this idea can work. I know that it’s a simple idea and might not generate great revenue but still I would like to give it a try.

Please share your feedback about the same. I would like to hear from ecommerce enthusiasts, people who have already started their ecommerce websites (or planning to start soon) or almost anyone experienced in this kind of field.

Regards,

Shravan

  1. Dear Shravan,

I have heard of service providers offering this kind of service in Delhi. Usually they work for e-commerce portals, helping them connect with merchants, collect product information and upload the data at e-commerce portal. Perhaps, you may use such idea to scale up your operation

    Best Regards

  2. Thanks Amit for your valuable reply.

  3. Hi Shravan,

This idea is trying to solve a genuine pain point. However, as mentioned by Amit these services are offered in a bunch to provide a single stop solutions to the merchants.
