Ask For Help

What is the answer to Online conversions in the Clothing Industry ? Bigger Budget? Smarter Marketing? Offline & Online promos? Others?

Dear Rodinhooders,

I am the sales & marketing associate of brand name: SpoiltChic

We are a Neemuch based company aiming towards a national presence within the next 3 to 5 years.

Website: www.SpoiltChic.com

We are a start-Up self funded angel specialising in HandMade Indian Wear and Deliver Pan India.

Delivery Time is between 10 – 14 days from date of Order.

Website promotions were started in July 2013. In the last 3 months, we have achieved approx 15,000 fans on Facebook along with approx 5,000 visitors on our website per month.

One very vital point is that we would like to avoid spending more on developing the website as we are a StartUp Company however, we are open to making small modifications (where required)

Now, we are facing the following Dilemmas and need your expertise / suggestions / advise on how we can improvise.

Challenges we are currently facing:

1. We have received very sales with a conversion rate of approx. 0.01%

2. We get visitors however, they tend to leave within 2 minutes of being on our website. Very few people are adding products to the cart.

3. Current Source of Visitors is Blogs, SEO and Facebook. Any suggestions on how else can we promote?

4. Our company has a fixed budget in mind and is willing to spend provided there is a good outcome.

We look forward to all the Help we can get – Mainly in getting Online Conversions.

Please feel free to ask your questions so I can respond to them in full detail accordingly.

  1. Hi Sakshi,

    Nice venture!!

Just checked your website and facebook page .15,000 likes in 3 months is really good also 5000 visitors per month isnt too bad, but can be improved.

The conversion rate for a new brand is always quite low. also looking at the options and variety of products available are little less. You may be finding many new visitors thus, they just check the website to see what all is available. just like i did.

Again, the time spent is actually good. check the time spent on individual page, is it in same for individual pages too?. It is quite good time spent but if people still dont buy, its because people like your collection but may want more variety. ask your FB fans what would they like. Ask suggestions on a product.

The Facebook page you have has quite a lot likes bt i could hardly see any conversation, which is “life” of social media marketing. Only one of the fan has commented with a query that too isn’t answered. 89 likes to the logo shows that there are good chances that these likes may have come from friends an family and hardly any real fan/customer. work on social media.

Go for special offers, contests, etc to get people to converse oh the product.

Offline promotion can be possible if you can target well. For e.g. As you mentioned “Hand Made Indian Wear”, try to find promote at some craft related events and shops.

The fan base you have on FB(if genuine) is quite a resource you can utilize then in many many ways.

All these was my personal analysis and opinion. O:)

    All the best !!!

    Cheers!!!

  2. I’ll give you my 2 cents- Women who wear mostly Indian Clothes are less likely to shop online than women who wear western clothes regularly (this comes with penetration of the internet, age and other factors) Also the delivery time is way too high, and that can be a deterrent. If you are taking that long to deliver, you should ask for custom measurements to ensure that the clothes fit the customer perfectly. (This is a major concern for women shopping online, so if you can address that, your conversion would definitely increase). This can also be your USP.

As for your website, I spotted some scope for improvement.

    1) The viewing page has 2 menus and the top half of the page is taken up by 3 lines… there are no images, or anything that the customer really wants to read.

    2)  Your website looks great, but the content (as in the text, is not very professional). There are grammatical mistakes, and I for one, would find that very unprofessional and instinctively decide not to buy anything. I also spotted too many exclamation marks everywhere, and I kept wondering why they were needed.

EG- “Bice Green embroidered with the golden gold. A cult from the designers absolute Conscience, we suggest you wear the ethnic Kurti with golden dupatta & traditional earing.”

What does “with the golden gold” or “A cult from the designers absolute Conscience” mean? It should be ” with a golden dupatta” and “earrings“. And that’s the only item I clicked on. Sample this too “To give u a complete designer outfit we have…” Why not you instead of u? I’m sorry to be nit-picking, but small details like this actually add a lot to a customer’s image of you. (I write, edit and proofread for our college newspaper, so I’m a bit of a Grammar Nazi. Just trying to help)
