Fun

Bhai the way – Nevher Ghive Up!

A happy go lucky bloke, chases ” kati patangs ” down in less than 3 minutes, runs a dish TV business, bringing home the world whew!

Blackened Face. Rode a Donkey. All out of love.

Bets on being able to chase down the ” unstrung ” kite in < 3 minutes, OR will end up riding a donkey with his face blackened. The kite gets cut ( imagine the difficulty in expressing the words, patang kat ti hai, in English ) bumps into a scooter rider, gets smacked with the helmet for being reckless, and as he is about to give it back, discovers that the rider is ” the she ” who he falls in love with. Loses the bet, ends up riding the donkey and giving away his heart.

Where is the match?

Over estimates, brags to his friends that this new found friend is his ” girl friend “. Girl gets livid, gives him a dressing down and a tight slap saying that he is a good for nothing and how dare he spread such canard. She is a state level wrestler with ambitions and he a country bumpkin – where is the match.

Wrestle-mania begins.

Bloke, learns to wrestle from the girl’s dad, becomes a state level wrestler,  raises in her eyes, gets married, together they win many tournaments, loose their child immediately after birth, girl now wife is livid of his absence when she told him to stay back and not get carried away. Decides to leave him.

Back to the basics

He starts living a ho-hum, low profile existence, till destiny presents a chance to come back to where he belongs – the wrestling arena. Refuses. Is told that its the only way his ambition of building a blood bank in his village can be realized – his child died because of lack of donors. His wrestling takes a new meaning, but by now the years have taken away the hunger and his fitness.

Against all odds.

Sponsor bets on him, convinces trainer, gets him fit, Hero defeats many along the way and wins the prize money, his estranged wife and his personal battles.

Beating the demons in the mind.

Yes that’s more or less the story of the biggest blockbuster that is on the way to net over Rs.500crores. Its a movie that must be shown in every part of the country, to show case how staying the course matters. Here is why:-

– it’s a clean film

– is a story anyone can relate to of falling in love, of being rejected

– of getting pride to get better of you

– of losing everything and sulking,

– hanging on to an idea that has limited “currency” for implementation

– seeing reason, getting inspired, rising above personal battles, accepting new approach

– being rejected on perceptions

– challenging commonly held beliefs

– of not giving up, rising against the odds, keep trying to win, of winning eventually

Not just in what you were good at but in what matters the most – defeating your own demons in the mind

All the makings of a great work-life (& bank ) balance.

Bhai – Nehever Ghives Up!

Bhai the way…..for an unstrung bloke,  a bolt from the “blue” can be transformational. The story could have simply been about stalking girls, drinking binges, fights, the arm of the law, etc. etc. I doubt if this Bhai would have been able to do justice to…that’s another story. For now….

Jaake har gaaon mein bolo, woh kya kehte hain angrezi mein ” Nehever Ghive Up!”
