One of my colleagues (Thanks – Raj Menon) pointed me to the fact that the most searched for ‘how to’ on Google India is ‘How to Kiss’! When I went upto google India and searched ‘how to’, it propopsed ‘how to get pregnant’ as the first choice.

Personally, I am not interested in ‘how to kiss’ (been there, done that) or ‘how to become pregnant’ (hmm…to much of a hassle).
But the fact that in a country of 50+ million Internet users, most of whom are in the 12-25 age group, if they are searching for these terms the most – then it means a LOT!
My interpretation is simple:
– The pains and pleasures of youth are now so easily ‘researchable’ via google. I mean, if you are getting really personal with your boyfriend, the last person you will ask for pregnancy protection is your MOM – but Google is there for you.
– Similarly, the most puzzling doubts that a 19 year old boy in India would have – How to kiss a girl, how to impress her, how to x,y, z are now available at keystrokes.
This is significant because Google not only plays the part of teacher guide but now also becomes best friend, council and virtual parent.
Young people all over the world are the same. Google India just told me that!
