Need a Co-founder (preferably tech) for a crowdsharing platform for adventure, experiential and offbeat travel.

About us:-

365hops is a location (geo tagging) and interest based crowd-sharing platform for adventure, experiential and off-beat travel started by IIT-D alumni.  At 365hops, we’re building a community of travelers where they can broadcast and discover trips, travel plans and unique places.

We’re providing an end to end seamless travel solution which lets users broadcast and connect directly to others near the targeted location or with common interests. 365hops also notifies you about new additions within your interests or location, thereby reducing the effort of searching and discovering relevant trips and information.

Requirement:-

An enthusiastic and dynamic person to join as a co-founder. He/she should be ready to make a commitment of atleast 6 months.

Its preferable that the person is of tech background (primarily PHP & Java) but also open for non-tech people.

Location:- Delhi NCR

Current Status:-

The product is almost ready with 90% of the website functionalities complete with an aim to complete the remaining in the next 2 weeks. An Android app is also being developed which has a probable release date in the 1st week of Jan’15. The aim would be to market this product in the next 6 months (along with doing minor tweaks here and there) and go for pitching.

  1. Kindly check your mail.

  2. Aren’t there zillion such sites? What’s your differentiator?

  3. Hi Alok,

Glad that you asked the same. 365hops delves into two verticals :- crowd-sharing (done by trip advisor, tripoto and some others) and experiential or activity based tourism (thrillophilia, tushky, etc).

Prominent Differentiators based on both verticals

    • Live trips – Currently, crowd-shared travel start-ups focus on itineraries for already concluded trips and act as suggestions. 365hops deals with data regarding trips to be done in the future and is more focussed on creating avenues for social travel rather than suggestions (past trips would become offline).
    • Less reliance on search – user gets notifications of new additions based on his location and interests which would reduce the hassle of searching every time and selecting various filters. We think this feature could be better exploited with an app where push notifications could be leveraged (already under development).
    • Seamless end to end communication – Platforms dealing in activity based tourism usually act as mediators between 2 parties. We’re striving to build the platform in such a way that communication can take place directly and seamlessly between the parties concerned.

    Other USPs

    • Social Platform – activity based platforms till now haven’t integrated the social angle into them
    • Marriage of crowd-sharing and experiential tourism
    • Not just itineraries and places – Users can also share one liner rough plans and get suggestions and interests

    Example use case:-

Requirement :- I want to go to Rishikesh for trekking and rafting and need mates.

What do i do :- Share a trip or rough plan (as convenient) tagging Rishikesh as location and trekking and rafting as activities. Since, I’m in Delhi, I’d preferably want to get tripmates from Delhi. So, I tag the “broadcast location” as Delhi.

    What happens :-

    1. This gets shared with all users in rishikesh as well as delhi. Users include organizers in Rishikesh too, who in turn could offer specific services to them.

    2. Gets shared with all users interested in trekking or rafting.

Apart from this, it’d be available on the platform if one specifically searches for Rishikesh or under trekking and rafting.

We think that though there are quite a few platforms in the experiential/activity tourism space, the market is still quite fragmented and untapped and are hoping to plug those gaps.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions or further questions.
