Ask For Help

Need Help on SAP SD

a big hi to all the doers!!

A brief intro: I am Ashish Kothari, working for SAP Partner as presales Exec. After having a fair bit of exp in Sales i am thinking of getting into consultant role.

Having around 2 years of Exp and working into SAP partner has given me a feeling of working as a consultant will have a better career prospect than as Presales.

I have talked to few of SAP SD Consultant and few of training institute for the same but with different feedback coming i want an honest opinion so i have decided to ask all the Doers.(this is my first post on rodinhoods, though i am read almost all the post). I have listed all my queries below

The Queries are listed below:

  • Should i do the course from training institute or individual SAP SD consultant.
  • Can anyone help with the career path for SAP SD consultant
  • What could be an approximate course fee.
  • Even after doing the course do any one suggest to be into Presales (coz once i have done the course i would be able to talk SAP language, which would be helpful for my client interaction)
  • If anyone provide a ready reckoner for the course material (like an index)

Guys need your help!!

Thanks & Regards,

Ashish Kothari

  1. Hi Ashish – You might be suffering from grass is greener on the other side syndrome 😉 again, I might be Judging you – Sorry for that.

    1. Genovate is the only training company which is authorized to provide SAP training in India but their training cost a bomb. There are other training agencies too, cheapest you could get from Hyderabad + Bangalore but can’t vouch on credibility factor on any (also can’t vouch that you will get confirm job – Best way to get trained is through your employer).
    2. SAP SD Consultant, Carrer path as I see is if you are at the service providers end Jr. Consultant -> Sr. Consultant -> Complete SAP Implantation Consultant -> VP/HOD/etc. if you are at the client side you would then move progressively to become IT or Sales & Dispatch Department’s head.
    3. Call up Genovate and ask them the fees. (LOL don’t faint on phone)
    4. If you are taking up SD training course just to learn the lingo and terminology used in sales process etc, so that you can speak in sync with clients, then you don’t need it you can get it from internet, books videos & constantly discussing with any SD consultants.
    5. Drop me a test mail at arunkw at yahoo dot com, I might be having 1 or 2 pdf book

I started 10 years back as a BaaN ERP developer-> techno-functional expert on BaaN ERP -> SAP/IT Manager -> and now trying my hands on Sales, though not in ERP.

Finally living as a SD consultant and living as pre-sales expert is very different, find what both are comprised of, and be sure that you will be contented on your decision.

  2. Hey Arun, thanks for giving a honest reply.

Would like to interact you directly. have send you test mail on your id.

We can also talk, pl find the nos in the mail.

    Regards,

    Ashish kothari
