Small Gesture and lifelong relationships… (Power of connecting Humanity Dots)

On December 18, 2012, I read information about Supritha’s accident through Face book Friend posts and i immediately called her Father and took appointment to meet Supritha @ Apollo Hospital on evening Visitor’s slot.

As i enter into her room, i was really depressed to see young kid lying on Bed with lost her left limb with fingers crushed and also noticed fractured across the Body.

As I was completely strange person to her and helping making her comfort with my introduction and purpose of my visit. She appeared very disappointed and frustrated about the incident and moreover she lost the left hand and her right hand fingers got crushed (It’s a fundamental need for every human being– Eat, write, and hold the cup…), her father looked very helplessly disappointed and he was bursting into tears that “why it happened to his daughter”!

For one’s, It’s looks very easy to console and convince them through words, but being in their shoes and understand their need at the moment is very important for being human and elevating their confidence at that moment was very very fundamental need.

I assured him positive help, but worried in mind about raising the big funds for her treatment. But i strongly believed that people will definitely help in her cause and started connecting Humanity Dots..Made few Phone calls to friends, relatives explaining about this cause and they assured help on this.

Mean time, Supritha’s Father (He is Govt Class Teacher) students (Roopa and Sunitha) raising money for her treatment as well. Instead of taking vertical route, i decided to join the hands with them and help them in all possible ways on Raising the Funds.

Next day we (Group of friends started working towards betterment of Supritha) started spreading the word across the friends, emails, Face book updates, phone calls and also posted this Company’s internal website, Blogs which were really helped to raise the funds for her over the time.

Totally we have collected total contributions as Rs 5+ Lakhs (Email attachment about the details) which are very considerable amount towards her treatment…my heartfelt thanks to all who shown great humanity towards Supritha and helped her to back on track.

On four months of intensive treatment and routine care with continuous physiotherapy, Supritha as recovered well, though she lost her left limb and yet to improve completely, noticed her confidence level is very much high. We also discussed with Rotary club about Free prosthetic Limb attachment to left hand and which helps quite a bit to continue her routine work.

It’s very important for their parents to keep her confidence and more high all the time and protect her dream to shape her as well educated and help her to Bright career.

It’s hard to believe that she is physically challenged, but that should not stop her to pursue her dreams what she had before accident.

On this Friday (12 Apr 2013) I invited their Family to home and spend good time together, Inspired her with success stories and wished her “Good Luck” and They are going to back to her native which is 8 hours journey from Bangalore.dsc02208

I wanted to summarize this True incident as Success Story on Humanity exists among us, only we should look around and connecting the “Humanity Dots”.

Let’s look around for opportunity to shape someone’s life to better way in midst of our hectic and Busy schedules.

As Swami Vivekananda has stated “Serving to humanity is Serving to divinity” and he also teached us power of “Connecting Humanity Dots”….

“All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages.”

(“As You Like It,” by William Shakespeare)

Thanks

Shashi
