The Rat Race : life is not supposed to be settled but to be lived everyday !

This is a small excerpt from almost everyone’s life in India and trust me the ones who do not relate to it , have really saved on some useless pondering in their lives !

As it goes , I met a friend of mine who had come to see all of us after successfully completing his training at INFOSYS , mysore campus. He had studied with us in Bangalore and was then posted to Hyderabad.

I asked him how his new job was . Whether he enjoyed it or not . He said , ” Gunjan , i don’t really like it “. I said ,” why don’t u quit ?” . He replied ,” well my manager says if u quit now u shall easily get a 75% hike in any other company as u have successfully completed the Hallowed INFY training. But he has also said that the domain that i am working on is very lucrative and if work here for another 2 years i can apply for an INFY certificate in the same domain which can accelerate my growth ( read. hike ) prospects exponentially. Hence, i have decided to work for 2 years and then think ” .  ( Btw , this friend of mine , his heart lies in joining the army and he has been appearing in the Defence services exams every year and he decided to rest his plans after joining INFY.)

I thought over it for a moment then all the memories came knocking. ( From here on let me know if u can relate to it ). I told him , do u remember when we were in 10th standard and were about to appear in the board exams . Everyone said , beta (son) do well in ur 10th standard and then life is settled . Then when we finished it we had the 12 th boards looming over us. once again , everybody said , perform well and get a seat in a good engineering college and then life is settled . Once again , we believed everybody and worked our asses off to get into a college. We thought the world was ours. But that wasn’t the case. Once again , people said just finish ur engineering with a decent score / cgpa and get into a good company and then ur life is settled. so we did that and got into a good company. Finally when u must have thought that life was settled , ur manager has told u to wait for 2 more years to be in that lucrative position in ur life. There must thousands of others in ur company waiting for tht too and hence the rat race would begin over and over again for better certificates and more hike.

This was one of those incidents that had helped me in strengthening my convictions that i wanted to be an entrepreneur. I jus wanted to share with everyone that the best time is now.

As i had read somewhere , “today ur the oldest that u have ever been and u would be the youngest u shall ever be”.

Happiness is not about what we would feel tomorrow when we have something / someone. It’s what we are today with whatever we have and whoever is there !

P.S : the friend has quit INFY , almost cleared SSC and will be joining AFHQ in Delhi to prepare for UPSC.
