How website like www.tabletcurry.com or any website which provide useful information make money ?

We are working on recommendation engine. We like to know – how to make revenue if we are providing useful information FREE of cost. Also what will be the future if we get good amount of people visiting our website for info ?

Can we become million dollar company by just providing info and getting good no. of hits ?

There are tech ways and there are honest ways and there are practical ways 🙂

Tech way: you troll the net using filters the visitor wants and throw some results. Not a very good way, honestly, cause visitor still needs to use his brain. So build some AI on top of it and give a better result. Still, it will not make you the darling of crowds and some companies may not like your spiders either.

Honest way: Get a research team, let them build catalogs with parameters which are searchable. Possible if you are in a niche market, like medical devices, where you almost know most of the players who matter and features are definable. Very very difficult if you wish to be in the mobile phone kind of fast moving market.

Practical way: tie up, tie up, tie up. Tie up with the companies to 1. provide you product specifications 2. charge them on per impression basis 3. give customers an option of discount if bought from your site while charge the companies if product sold from a link of your site (this arbitrage can be done as wholesale price and retail price difference can be split between you and the customer, while the company still gets profit.)

Thanks Saurabh but forgot to mention.

I am from Travel Industry and we are thinking for providing Travel related information but in a organised way and point to point like Tech way. It’s not going to be normal travel information website but thinking operation similar to tabletcurry.com so that people reach what they want at least 80-90%.
