Making of an Entrepreneur

Dear all Rodinhooders

I am trying to recall on how I became an entrepreneur . I had come back to India in late 80’s working with the best of German Company Ludwig and French Tolartois in Kuwait . The job market sucked being another me too. I had to be in small town of Allahabad with Parents. My father was in Allahabad University expecting me to do  PhD and be a teacher.  Did not tell that the MBA was such a waste of my time..

So decided that I might as work for myself than the stupid job search and interview. Found that MBA when doing for self is of no consequence. I would visit Business Exhibition to scout for something that would make my pursuit interesting. Met one Dr Syed Ismail who had come back then back from Germany . He was Professor   in Stuttgart University and started in SEEPZ Mumbai.. When he can change tracks and then anyone can.. Met his operation in SIFA and I was least techie to get the hang of product specks  But knew the application of the product to market across in Ordnance and Steel Plant. But that required to a give a demo.. Those were the days of DOS and installation required to make a boot file..etc.

Overcame that also in 2 days . Its pays to be ignorant and then rest is history in learning new. I was required to buy PC and Wipro was known then for Shikakai soap.  I did not buy the PC from them but from HCL.. That made Rakesh Mittal from WIPRO , Lucknow go wild. He is  now the MD of the GenPact USA . He  bull charged me and made me the partner of WIPRO.. Those day PC buying of double drive with boot floppy was a luxury. Remain associated with them for 9 years till end 1999. Saw the technology innovate from ring side view. Wipro gave us the best of HR practices to build the eco culture of cost centre and intrapreneurship . Stuff like Object handling

Why am I sharing this ?

It all happened in the days before the mouse and mobile was the there. The  impact of Bob Tasca – the autobiography for Car Garage Owner who for seven consecutive  years  was world’s highest car sales dealer for Ford in a small town .. The one mantra was that one would have to have relationship beyond a product sale with the market place. That have relationship even those who were no customers. Indeed invest in a relationship.. So many good things happened in this career roadmap when my only daughter went on to do Technology Entrepreneurship at Stanford and now with a Japanese Company in Singapore as Web Analytics. She did her Engineering Graduation from National University of Singapore

What does more any father need ?

Once the broadband came , then changing before the change happens is the easiest. Moved into Recruitment and Pre Placement understanding cognitive science of Recruitment .. Recruit or Die by Chris Resto and then Nick Corcodilos of Ask the Headhunter worked as catalyst in my pursuit. Thanks Facebook, I am just a click away now with Singapore and  Seattle being a mere click away. Small is beautiful , manageable and profitable also

So what ?

Innovation always fascinated me , I am celebrating my 60th birthday for Rural Women Entrepreneurs. That is where the real India is.. Bharat Inc.  See it here  . This is a Mizo group of women . Please note that it is NOT some donation but a loan which they will return over a period of time in installment. It can start as small as mere Rs 500/- to whatever one wishes.. It will NOT come to me. What more better could be that  in the spirit of Rodinhooders to do things to those whom we would not meet nor expect . . Impact them silently . Just anyone can do giving up the weekend Pizza dine out.

More of Milaap as a crowdsourcing can be understood at milaap.org  and worth listening https://bit.ly/14XqOGc  to the Founder Surabh Sharma who is based in Singapore . Having a social impact in any business or career roadmap is a must . That is how he initiated the people movement for a better tomorrow for all. Then success is bound to happen.

Only the entrepreneurs would have empathy and would come forward.  I stopped going to temples etc donating to purohits. Every month I get 5-6 K refunds that I am recycling again.. Take my word, so many good things have started happening like some miracle.  So many more connects started happening effortlessly.

All this was not planned nor any MBA would teach us. Just need to do it and experience the “joy of giving ” . Just felt tempted to share knowing that many and many need each other other tips to surge ahead.. I would be too happy to share  my last 30 years of experience in Entrepreneurship. One of them is the Power of Ask Ask Ask  in the chapter 17 of the The Success principle. Just mail me at rk@dhanvada.com or inbox me at FB  . Will share the ebook and Bob Tasca link.

Look forward to hear from you all . I am just a dial away at +9440179822 based in Hyderabad

Best wishes
