nailbites – the accidental birth of entrepreneurs

After 1 year, 3 months and 22 days of consistent nailbiting, we are thankful that our nails keep growing, ensuring the same for our business too. We are nailbites, an agency that jumped into the advertising business just the way one falls into water with a splash on being pushed with no prior warning. Yes, the now managing partners of nailbites were happy (not much) with their separate individual advertising jobs when suddenly a reputed known client for which they had worked separately, offered with the opportunity to work together for him. Being in different offices under two different bosses, the idea seemed impossible and impractical. So we decided to start our own, searched for a space to have our computers placed and thus nailbites got incepted in November 2009.

By now, you would have already given up asking our vision and mission as apparently there were none. We were the place with just two brains with no prior business handling experience working for a single client and agreeing to almost everything that came across. Time changed and clients got added to our much cherished “We work for” heading in our profile presentation. Today we work for a good number of happy clients. The in-between things like preparing pitch presentations, calling up clients and asking for their valuable time, sending across nailbites mailers for brand building, recruiting designers & copywriters, getting designs done, confirming excellence in works delivered, etc . were not easier as it appeared before the aforementioned splash. Our short individual career stints stood as barriers at many points but we were equally adamant of not getting back to our old days when our ideas often went unheard.

Today, we have evolved from being accidental entrepreneurs to knowledgeable partners who now understand what it takes to win a client and sustain him. We also sensed that nothing can beat quality work and on-time delivery. We keep our aims simpler and achievable for now so that when we dream big, it’s no more a serendipity but a well-planned step bringing more and more success for both our clients and for us nailbiters.

Idea behind the name – nailbites:

This was the only well-structured process that we went through before finalizing on a name for our surprisingly born agency. Before deciding on the name, we went through a series of painful actions like head scratching, nailbiting, hair pulling, head banging and bone tearing process. The most enjoyable one was nailbiting which also meant thinking, complimenting us – the thinkers. Thus, after much reaction and confrontation amongst ourselves, we nailed on the name nailbites and the rest is history – a short one though!
