A few months ago, my wife Chhavi presented me “Synchrodestiny” by Deepak Chopra. That book impacted me a lot and this story really remained stuck in my head:
Yesterday, my wife and I both bought our new iPhone 5 mobile phones!
Excitedly, I set up both the phones. In my case, it was moving from an iPhone 4 to the 5; in the case of my wife, she was moving from a Blackberry to her new iPhone 5.
For the past few years, whenever we have bought a new phone (or camera), we typically take the first ‘picture’ of our Gurus and Gods and try and make the first ‘call’ to a temple or a temple trust. Yup, call us superstitious ☺.
Using my new iPhone, I thought of making the first call to one of my Art of Living friends and saying “Jai Gurudev” as the first words..
Just when my phone was almost set up, I saw a number calling me. It was not from someone I knew. Intuitively, as I grabbed my phone (it was still tethered to my Macbook), I thought of “Jai Gurudev…” almost as if they were the first set of words I wanted to say.
A lady on the other side said, “JAI GURUDEV ALOK….
I am calling from Pune…x, y, z…”. She was someone I had spoken to only once before in my life and was an Art of Living teacher. She had called me randomly to find out if I was going to be attending a conference in the Ashram in Feb. This was just another call without any real purpose or agenda!
I was so amazed at the co-incidence, and thanked her profusely for making my wish come true. This is exactly what I had wanted!
Later, very late in the night, I handed my wife her iPhone, set up with her contacts etc (It was a bit of a pain migrating BB contacts, but I managed ☺)
This afternoon, we went for a movie. In the car, while I was driving, my wife said, “Alok, I called up the Art of Living Ashram from my phone. The voice recorder said, “Jai Gurudev” and I got to hear the golden words with my first phone call.”
In my mind, I said “WOW!”.
Later, after the movie got over, I checked my phone. I had a missed call from a 080 number (080 is a Bangalore number).
I called that number and the first words I heard were “Jai Gurudev”!!!!
I was shocked and amazed. I asked the lady (who answered ) who she was and if she had called me. She said she was from the Art of Living Ashram but had not called me. She and I had a big laugh when I told her that this was the best wrong number I had ever received. A few minutes later, she called me again and said she remembered!! She called me because she wanted to request some clarification on paper work of some donation we had given long, long back!!
I have received 3 calls on my iPhone 5 and all of them had “Jai Gurudev” as the first words spoken.
Need I explain more?
All I need you to take away from this story is that what you wish, with faith and intent, can come true. Sometimes instantly, sometimes at the right time…
