The Rodinhoods August 2012 – Open House Agenda!

This is the proposed agenda for the Open House scheduled on the 31st of August 2012 – see venue details here and also RSVP please!  (Heartfelt thanks to NSE for the awesome venue!)

Time: 5:30 – 8:00pm

Venue – NSE Auditorium, Bandra Kurla Complex – Mumbai

Admission – Free, no obligation, come and go as you like. No qualifications required – no criteria, no knowledge, no conversation, no Rodinhood Membership, no stress, no gyaan.

Agenda:

5:30–5:45 pm 

Welcome address by Alok (Founder) and presentation of Agenda by Akancha

5:45 – 6:00 pm


 Special presentation by Alok titled, ‘How to sell concepts’. 

Presentation highlights will include examples of how Alok introduced unknown concepts such as contests2win, mobile2win and games2win to clients, audiences and VCs while starting up.

 

6:00 – 6:30 pm


 Guest speaker Nithya Shanti to speak on “Taking the Big Leap: How I left my job and followed my calling of being a forest monk.”

Nithya Shanti is an internationally respected spiritual teacher, seminar leader, writer and educator, committed to sharing practical wisdom teachings for happiness and enlightenment with people in a joyful and transformational way. 

Nithya completed an MBA from XLRI, Jamshedpur and then worked in the corporate sector. Despite having a promising career, he was drawn to pursue his spiritual quest further. In 2002, he ordained as a Buddhist Monk. After six years of living in forest meditation monasteries in Thailand, Sri Lanka and also various parts of India and the US, he was guided to live, learn and serve in broader ways than the traditional role of a monk permitted. With the blessings of his teachers he stepped out of the robes in early 2008 and now shares joyful teachings in happiness joyshops, youth programs, corporate trainings and meditation retreats around the world.

5 Rodinhooders get 5 Minutes to present 5 Slides about what they do. 5 members of the audience then get to ask 5 questions about what they saw.

Hence the ‘5x5x5X5 Show, Tell & Ask’ session

Akancha (akancha@rodinhood.com) will be timing the presenters and they will be asked to stop sharp after 5 minutes.

Format of the PPT to be presented is THIS – please download this and send it to Asha the Editor – asha@rodinhood.com before the 24th of August to get a chance to present.

The 5 best PPTs will be chosen as agreed between Asha and Alok.

  2. I would suggest if there could be small tea break or that kind of a thing so that people can also interact with each other and exchange their business cards (if they have the cards :P).
    My point on suggesting it is that It would help people knowing other people of their interest and who knows some may find co-founders | mentors | advisers in the social gathering. 🙂

  7. Amazing. Sounds like a litmus test of ideas. Do the presenters get any quick feedback (a minute or two) from Alok  after their presentations?

  8. I think keeping the entire Q&A portion at the end of One and a Half hours might lack the spontanity and thrill of a Q&A.. Why not try accomodate it within the scope of 10 mins.. And moreover, what about people who would have a Question but not an Internet enabled mobile phone??

  12. I am just two Rodinhood open house old.  (22 June 2012 & 6 July 2012). And I am seeing a massive change in the open house.

    Compared to 22 June the number of Rodinhooders attending on 6 July were 4x.

    From 6 July to 27 July the format is seeing a massive change.

    This is Superb!

    Budding entrepreneurs should not miss the 27 July Rodinhood open house. See U!  🙂

  15. This is perfect !!! I have just one suggestion. Is it possible to webcast this event for the benefit of Rodinhooders who are located out of Mumbai. This webcast will be one way only which means that others will be able to view and listen to the interactions however won’t be able to participate. (If somebody wants to participate then he/she needs to come to Mumbai) This will benefit larger section of entrepreneurs who are not in Mumbai and not every time they can afford to be there for the mixer. You can also think of publishing the recording of the event after the mixer.

  21. Yes Chief !!! I am on to it. You Tube has started You Tube Live services wherein one can do a live webcast of any event on You Tube (Like IPL T20 :)) .

    I am in the process of getting the required details so that I can enable this. I have the necessary gear and I shall come prepared for the event. I need to know about a couple of things 

    • Will we be able to get wired or wireless (Preferably Wired) connectivity at the venue (Min 2 Mbps 1:1 ratio) 

    • If the above is not available what kind of Wireless Broadband Access (WBA) we have at the venue i.e. Airtel 3G, Reliance Broadband Plus, MTS etc.

    If I get this information it will be a great help to configure the solution.

    If possible I shall also visit the venue before the event to check all these things myself. Kindly let me know the SPOC their so that I can coordinate the same.

I dug for some information as promised on You Tube Live services however unfortunately its not yet available with full steam ( I mean its available but only to select You Tube Partners) I guess this time we will have to record the session and then upload the same to you tube on our own Rodinhoods Channel.

    Lets create a Rodinhoods Channel wherein we can publish, upload, share any video content related to Entrepreneurship and as per the guidelines set by the Rodinhood. I am willing to take a lead in this initiative.

    I have another suggestion. I can see there is lot of enthusiasm in fellow rodinhooders to have this event arranged in other locations (Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune) As we have only one Rodinhood 🙂 therefore he can be present in only one event at a time. My suggestion is as follows

    • All the rodinhooders from the respective locations would assemble at convenient place ( One of the meeting room of a fellow Rodinhooder or a hotel conference room if you have a good clout at that place.

    • We shall create a Skype Call Conference by using a special paid conference service offered by Skype ( I have subscribed to one so I can extend that for the event) 

    • Mumbai location will get hooked up all the satellite locations via Skype and all these locations will get clubbed into a Skype Conference Call.

    • Our fellow Rodinhooders will Project the Skype Call onto a Screen by using Projector or LCD screen and with the use of Microphone and Speakers can connect to the main venue.

    It all depends upon how resourceful our fellow Rodihooders are 🙂 however as all of them are Entrepreneurs they will definitely arrange the above mentioned resources.

    Alok Please approve this arrangement principally so that we can connect with each other and start planning for the big day.

     

  25. This would be my first rodinhoods event. Was sad to miss the one on 6th July since I was in Bangalore for the Unpluggd event. Glad the next one is already around the corner. Looking Forward to It!

  29. Super initiative. Could we include a quick intro round early on. But it has to be brief: name/business only. Helps connect with the right people afterwards instead of leaving it to chance bump-ins.

Is it a hardware or a software based encoder ? What bandwidth would be needed for live streaming ?   36. Just had this sudden Insight.. Why don’t we ask our Budding Bots guys to make us a remote controlled Robot, fitted with a Video Camera on top and shoot the entire event with it.. Later we can give them the Credits.. 🙂

Hi Asha I think this time we can test various platforms such as webcast, Hangout or Skype and then depending upon the effectiveness and response for each of these we can narrow down to the most suitable tech platform. There is no doubt that there are many rodinhooders who stay out of Mumbai are eager to be at the Mecca of Entrepreneurship on each open house 🙂 and we need to provide them a virtual gateway to connect. I am already in the process of identifying how we can do that and will write a post about the same in a while.

  43. Mandar : We need a HD webcam (Microsoft LifeCam HD 2MP or More – I have Logitech 1.3 MP ) for broadcasting via Google hangout. I have also spoken to http://www.unirow.com for broadcast & they can create an account with 200 concurrent attendees @ No Cost. ( They broadcast recent Unpluggd Event ). If their team attend open house then they agree to bring their HD Cam- Laptop & Wifi/3G to be arrange by us ( Will carry that on 27th ). We can embedded the code on TRH with FB Comments / Twitter feeds en all.

I know the presentation submission deadline is tomorrow so it should be okay if I send it through late this evening right? Was out of town and hence have not been able to submit it but would definately like to give it a go if submissions are still open. Looking forward to meeting you all.

    It was my first ever rodinhoods open house, and I absolutely loved it!
    Felt fresh, inspired and “in the right place”, now i’m just looking for that eureka moment to start my own venture.

    Has anyone noted the slides of Alokji on the 7 ways to sell? like to sell to you industry, be your customer’s pet, sell vanity…Also, does anyone have NIthyaji’s slides?
    I would love to share them with my friend who couldn’t make it.

    I’ve started reading Autobiography of a Yogi, and i’m just grateful to Alokji for the book and starting Rodinhoods.
    Feeling a different kind of clarity now.
