Things to keep in mind for book rental start up?

Hello people,

I have just started a books rental portal in Goa called www.rentnread.in M trying to mainly focus on Educational material for Engineering streams as those books are costly. As of now m having a really low stock of books. I m trying to locate source for cheap books. Main reason for this is seniors sell the books to juniors at 50% rate. So basically if i give same thing as seniors, why would they take books on rent?

Also if someone is doing the same thing like me, kindly give some advise. As per my knowledge there are many such portals outside Goa but nothing SPECIFIC in Goa which means I have some scope. Any other advise is welcomed.

    I totally understand what you are pointing out here, it is extremely difficult and a costly thing to get the required books for Engineering as well as similarly for Medical courses too, since have been through this personally (both streams) so this is definitely a very niche and opportunistic area that you intend to service for. Wishing you Good Luck right in the start 🙂

    Are you looking for something only in GOA ? 

    You should try to connect with the Medical / Engineering colleges in the konkan Belt namely, Ratnagiri, Sawantwadi, Chiplun to start with then further ahead towards Karad, Sangli, Ichalkaranji and connect with the Hostels to source the required second hand books for the same, since the Syllabus change is the only criterion which could make a book not worth its value for the next year, until it remains the same it can be re used and you can also offer to buy back at a fixed % with your stamp on it other wise, if not this then you can try to associate with other websites which are doing this already. Then you can Move towards the Hubs of Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad for other resourcing networks to be established with whole sale shops doing the same as well too and can tie up with them to keep a steady flow

    Other sources would need to be Jump started and you would need to go where the Source is to start this for the first time then you should be able to have a Work flow since the Academic years End at a particular time of the year for which the dates are pre-released for you to Time your actions accordingly at the various places, you can also connect with the colleges to provide this service of collecting and offering second hand books as a Value added service and they can allow you a Table or Space at the college Campus / Hostel to make use of for a start.

(I did mention this to you in the main room chat when you first asked the requirement)

    Source can be anything across India. Mumbai and Bangalore most preferred to get book from as is easy. The only reason m willing to keep it Goa for now is shipping to other parts Konkan belt wont be cheap. If it works well In Goa, I can expand it further. There are many companies as you said based in different parts of Country but I don’t want to give away my company so soon by a tie up.

    I see substantial growth in next one year once the thing catches up. I need to locate source. Cab be anywhere as long as i dint end up doing pure public services. Do let me know if you have any sources for these books.

Sorry, was unable to make it clearer, hope this explains.

    It is a process not a Readymade available thing, I do Know a few of these as I explained (locally – I am in Mumbai) but that is up to you to find out and use now as per your convenience to be applicable. Internet is not geographically Limited though, depends on how you see the Local there 🙂

    The suggestion of Tieing up or Associating is to convenience not “Give away” its a Win Win situation for both parties involved (This happens only when you have an open mind and Discuss with them for the purpose to find any existence or possibility to get this in action), now depends on how you look at it with OTHER option (if any) available to circumvent this better.

    You would need to factor the Logistics cost when GETTING them or SENDING them as well so being in GOA and catering to the locales would also mean RESOURCING of the Goods may be outside it or your comfort zone, so maybe you might need to take a small walk too at times 🙂

    Thanks for the reply again. As far as local suppliers go, they are not bargaining much, the RADDIWALAs will be a better and fair deal. It will still save some money at the end, Thanks for this article link too. Also if you know anyone whi will help me with policy set ups, do let me know. I have created them along with my content writer. But you guys here have walked a few miles more than me so if anyone of you could help me with that, it would be a great help also I invite all of you to go through rentnread.in . M currently hosting it from go daddy server with ready-made templates. If anything needs to be added or removed, please let me know.

    • It looks like you’re allowing the main Google Web Search Bot.

    • How does one register now ?

    • No register button, links etc what is the way to do this not explained.

    “Order your book by paying the original cost of the book. (MRP of the book ) We will then <-(corrected spelling here) send you the book. Once you receive <-(corrected spelling here) the book at your doorstep…”

    • Where do they pay (on the site online, or at the Door or when they come with the books COD)

    • Online payment procedure not visible or in place (you can check with RH Nameet Potnis of https://sellmojo.com to get your online Marketplace store opened up on facebook page) Other options are also available search for “Payment Gateway” as keywords on the search page here on TRHS.

    • Will delivery be charged extra ? (FAQ says – The delivery charges are borne by the customer)

    • What about the same when Sending them back as well.(as per FAQ – We will pick it up after you are done with your exams.)

    Google Docs used are not cool on a site… the spellings in the list of books is “Phisics” apart from the links to reach them as well Academics link : https://tinyurl.com/acedemics

    Would leave it to the other Awesome Website RH members to comment and assist in case you need that there, we can take things offline and continue in case you plan things out and think about getting this off the floor, with the way things are currently doesn’t look like much is happening or has been thought about on this to take it anywhere, and work it out to put on your Running shoes 🙂 Not spoon feeding, but there are some things that you need to get done from your end for a start.   11. Hi Mr.Parixit,

    I would recommend you to contact various students studying engineering colleges in Goa and ask them whether they are ready to sell their used books. Many students buy new books (from traditional bookstores or online)at the starting of semester and sell them to juniors at low prices (generally for half the price) once the semester ends. You can contact such students. This will help you to procure books at cheap prices.

    BTW your idea is really good and will definitely work in Goa where there are 5 engineering degree colleges.

    Thanks for writing in. If I buy from seniors and give to juniors what difference do I make? We at rentnread are seeking to provide books to seniors juniors at max possible discounts. We are also promote re-usability of books.
