How can i know if my website is getting hacked??

Hostgator people are saying that am running mails beyond my approved capacity of 500 per hour whereas i have stopped the mailing (match alerts for members) since last 15 days???

How do i know that its not some error on my programmer part and not getting hacked???

Can someone help me with some advanced tips on how to safeguard my website to 100% level??

    Webmaster central will not know if there is a hole allowing malware to pump emails from his server.

  5. I guess the SMTP log is the quick starting point. Check that the smtp server does not allow anonymous relay (unlikely!).

     

    If you are not using the mail server for sending matches, then safest is to stop SMTP completely. it helps to keep all such services like SMTP , FTP completely off if not in use. To manage files on the server, instead of FTP use third party secure FTP servers (such as filezilla) -they give you a whole lot more control to restrict access.
