Selling combs to balds.

Entrepreneurs @ Rodinhood. What kind are we?

We are all Rodinhoods!

Our blogs, our discussions and the comments/remarks we leave on them are our definition and persona, for all to see.

We joined this community to gather some wisdom, gain advice, if possible mentorship which helps us in our endeavours.

My fellow rodinhooders, who are also current or would be entrepreneurs will find some content and advice available here, but some may not. We may be regular or an occasional contributor to this site or maybe only just browsers. We find sometimes which concerns or interests us but more often we do not.

My feeling today goes out today for those who have found no or minimal traction here.

I have a feeling, it would depend on the kind of audience we have. You may have a roomful of attendees but if none would hear what you say, then it is like speaking to yourself.

Are we trying to market combs in an area, where all are bald?

Do we have the audience here for whom we are looking for?

Are there anyone here who are interested in what we are offering, as an interested party?

Would it not be useful, if the site provides the options in which any progressive activity could be undertaken, for the areas of our interest.

And a tough question, Is this site only to share ideas and publicize? Is there anyone who reads, listens and helps. If yes, where are those stories?

  1. dear shyam,

pls check out the posts in ASK, JOBS, TESTIMONIALS and many many of the stories in YOUR STORY, STARTUP, IDEAS.

  2. I agree with shyam…feedback are important to know the importance of one’s article…also the measurement of impact created through this community site is needed…

  3. I am puzzled by the question

    – the page views tell you how many views an article enjoyed

    – lots and lots and lots of rodinhooders connect and work externally

    – people use the site to gain knowledge – proof of the same is in the testimonials

errrr – so what is the question again?

    and who is ‘getting publicised’???

Chinmay – can you explain how HOW TO CAPTURE  ” the measurement of impact created through this community site is needed…”

    ??!!!!

  4.  i know that statement is somewhat twisted…;) there are various ways to measure the impact …

what you said is correct..but to make therodinhoods a thriving community site, we need to tap people from colleges, tier-II cities

online presence is good but offline presence is equally important.

Although it is a site which promotes optimism in entrepreneurs yet giving them knowledge about pitfalls or negative aspects of a business would help them to visualize the actual picture.

and last but not the least…

Entrepreneurship is more about practice and less about theory…so a training module especially designed for would be entrepreneurs would be a better idea than occasional meetings

As an entrepreneur we all have a need of being publicized through our product or service or even otherwise. It is an inbuilt fault and desire.

The attention we seek for us or for our product/service are relative.  It is a pathway to reach the dream destinations. More the attention is more visibility. But sometimes the attention we get on ourselves may not be helpful to the product/service we are offering in most of the cases. We need publicity for our services, our products. It is what we are marketing and we want it be showcased in front of people who are interested.

We all know and understand that being part of this community is not the only answer and option to achieve the targets we have set for ourselves. But we all also know that it is also one of the best available platform available to us.

The blogs/stories/discussions help us, no doubt about that. But are we just that. I feel we should more than that.

You say that the page view tells us number of times the article is read and enjoyed. You would know it is just a LIKE status of facebook but done involuntarily. And was it read in whole. No one Knows.

You have also asked Chinmay for an explanation on HOW TO CAPTURE, the measurement of impact. He may or some other person may give an explain plan on it at today or some other time. But Alok Sir, how would you like to measure and present the impact.

And errrr – the most important question was, how do we know that we have people here who could be interested in our ideas. Are we going to have tags available to us, which would indicate that the business ideas from a domain or area would be reciprocated and answered.

Is this site destined to become a place where we share our experiences, our stories and fantasies.

Our open house is a great activity, I envy the people who live in and around mumbai or are able to fly for it, and are able to attend it. It must definitely be a great experience for all and even greater who are selected for 5x5x5x5. But what happens next Alok Sir. Is it all strictly commercial and cannot be shared, because otherwise we would have had some stories related to it and by them as well.
