Suggestions for a proposed portal related to hospitality

I have an idea to start a portal for hospitality industry along with one of my friends.

The users of this site will be people or companies looking for hospitality services and the hoteliers who will get leads/customers.

Currently there are website for booking rooms, flights, etc. but we want to focus on other services that are untapped so far.

Can someone with experience in hotels/hospitality provide some suggestions and advise on the services to be included, segment to focus on and other ideas?

Sridhar, What are the other services untapped so far. Could you please elaborate on them.

One thing that comes to my mind, and for which there is a BIG VOID, is the inability to find BANQUETS and their REAL-TIME availability at different venues. Banquets are needed for all events, and it is difficult and a waste of time, to call each and every hotel/venue to ask for availability.

Hi Puneet,

You are absolutely right. We were thinking about banquets/events/meetings. However, I just put this open question to get other new ideas which I may have missed. Frankly, I’m in the process of researching the new or untapped services.

You should also offer a service, where the hotels can just put up their F&B requirements and the vendors can bid for servicing them.
