The Bare Foot Auto Rider – Sandeep Bachhe

Hello Rodinhooders,

A few days back near my vicinity, I saw an auto-rickshaw, which did catch my attention, and I just saw the back of it and knew that there was someone special riding this auto. Here is a glimpse of the rear of his auto:

And yes I looked inside the Auto and all that is written in the back is available, plus his photos with a lot of people. He has also kept a donation box, now you might wonder why donation, well he told me that he feeds kids on the streets and cancer patients are also given certain medicines.

Now why bare foot, well since his mother expired in 2004 he stopped wearing any footwear. If you also see carefully the tail lamps have been guarded by a grill, for which he said “Mumbai mein accidents hote hai aur faltu ka kharcha hota hai, is liye safety” (In Mumbai accidents happen frequently thus the safety)

He also told me something that shocked me a lot, He uses technology a lot, he is using and is the only one in Mumbai to have:

1. Facebook : Sandeep Bachche

2. Twitter : sandeepbachche

3. You can Call, Watsapp and We chat on: +91-9920-780-030

He also told me that he is a speaker at a lot of events, but since this year he said he has started charging Rs. 11,001/- so as to help more people via this income. It is only for those outside Mumbai.

He has been awarded 7 times by various authorities. He also helps the senior citizens and handicapped by providing almost 33% discount on the regular fare. His auto serves you tea, water, Newspapers, Mobile charger, P.C.O. , L.C.D., fire extinguisher, plus for every donations you have to pick a small chocolate.

And he is Sandeep Bachhe a resident of Mumbai Suburbs. And after all this another big moment, he has spoken at TEDx

He is also a big follower of Sai Baba and a huge fan of Sanjay Dutt. This was just a 5 to 10 minute stint I had with him. He only rides the Auto during the day.

He has also kept a valentine offer on 14th Feb, 10% discount for couples only 🙂

The vehicle is WI-Fi enabled and, if you’re not carrying a laptop or smartphone to connect to the internet, Annadurai will slip you a 10-inch tablet. He carries an internet dongle attached to a WI-Fi router and offers free access to the internet. “Most people who take my auto work for IT companies and I know access to the internet is important for them,” Annadurai says. “It takes about half an hour to cover the distance between Thiruvanmiyur and Sholinganallur. Why waste that time?” Says Annadurai

The auto also has lots for magazines and newspapers that contain the latest editions. Annadurai spends 4,000 Rupees a month on subscriptions to 35 various news publications. There are dailies for the customers who need to keep up on the news, weekly magazines for passengers who are taking a long ride, and glossy fortnight-lies for those interested in lighter reading.
