Which payment gateway allows selling of ebooks?

Which are the recommended Indian payment gateway that allows selling of the digital content like ebooks etc?

  1. Not a gateway, but cheaper alternative will be to use Gumroad or Instamojo.

  2. Thanks for the reply shobhit, unfortunately both the sites would want buying to happen on their website. I don’t want my visitors to go away from my website, payment should happen on my website using some sort of plugin or code at the same time not to have a design of e-commerce/shopping cart theme

    Also I don’t want my product maintained or kept on their servers.

  3. I thought you don’t have a server. Anyway, if you have knowledge of programming and a bank account in US or Canada, try stripe. Otherwise payu.in seems ok.

    You have not mentioned if you have approached any gateways and if so what is the problem that you faced with them?

    If there are no copyrights issues. CCAvenue should not have a problem.

    I think the rest of the lott , Payu , EBS have similar whims regarding Digital goods. .

  5. Thanks Akash, I spoke with Payu but they don’t allow download of ebooks. I will speak with other payment gateway service providers to see if they allow it. Many have blanket policy on payment gateway for download of digital goods. Bit ties up till end of the year for training will update on this next year 🙂

  7. Usually Payment Gateways refrain from providing the services to the digital goods because of the stringent policies of Banks that hold them up on the some typical products. Though Zaakpay is providing payment solution to some niche products you can try them.

  16. Thanks, Amit. I had inquired at Payu 1st but they raised their hands up saying they don’t support selling of digital content. I have went ahead and tied up with CCAvenue, I find their AMC to be bit higher. May be in future I might switch to someone else who is bit cheaper with the pricing.
