  1. ashish,

i think it would also depend on your product. would you like to share more info about your startup??

  2. For Startup I personally feel – you must focus more on customer service, product delivery and quality of product etc rather than creating brand awareness. Once you start focusing on customer service and product, automatically it’s goes toward Brand Awareness.

    All the best !

  3. Creating a brand at the first place and then creating awareness is a big thing. it takes lakhs and crores of rupees, hundreds of manhours, research, a great product idea. unless you are sure you have a path breaking idea or a product, most of us would be better off treading the well treaded path or selling established brands. makes life much easier.

entrepreneurship i feel is not only about finding out a new need or an idea and meeting it, but meeting an existing and well established need in a much better or may be in an innovative way.

if 10 people are selling electronics, u too can join. just try to have atleast some differentiator otherwise what incentive can a prospective buyer have to buy from a newbie when there are established players.

    some food for thought!!

  4. Yes it does convert to sale but before going to invest in creating brand awareness batter to focus on your product and service because as an initial stage product and service will matter. until or unless if your product & service is not good nothing will happen. coming to your 2nd point after creating brand awareness there is no exact way to measure sales and finally keep balance is batter way.

  5. Marketing will enhance your brand position in the market which will lead to sales. So market in such a way it increases the value of your brand.

  6. Hi Ashish,

Creating brand awareness and Sales go hand in hand. It also depends on the product and its various factors such as :

    1. Price

    2. Quality

    3. Competition

    4. Design or look of your product.

See I”m not a Marketing guy, but yes you need to create the curiosity in the mind of the people who will be consuming your product.

Check whether the products is for the mass or for a niche market only. Then you can market it depending on it.

Every product be it form a Start-up or an established brand do need to create its product awareness (more than brand awareness), see as a Start-up people will come for your product not your name or logo. Once the people trust into your product they will themselves buy it without much of the marketing.

It also depends what your budget is for the start-up. I would say at least 5% on your sale price should be kept on marketing, it depends again on a lot of factors. So please let us know more about your product, and then we at TRHS guarantee you that you will get suggestions on how to make your product better.

  8. Ashish,

Since we don’t know what your product is, you are bound to receive vague results or general talks rather I should say.

So first let us know about the product post which we can say what you should be doing about the product and how you should market it.

Its like you are asking everyone a route from Mumbai to …….. so no one can clearly say from where you should go as exiting the city has three main highways, one from Western Highway taking you to Gujarat, second Eastern Expressway taking you to Nasik and the third taking you to Pune.

So please let u know abt the product then I can surely suggest you how to market it (learnt a few tricks from the big ones like Alok sir, Akancha mam and Hitesh Sir and others too) So do let us know what your product is.

  9. :), well its a dream for all of us to see one of promotions go viral unintentionally or with little efforts may be on the strength of its innovativeness or USP… we have been dreaming and hoping but really have no idea how to even move towards such a thing.

Yeah, the site is a copy paste of all that we liked in most of the top e-com sites that we visited when we were developing it. SST is not invented by us, have been hearing it for a long time. but i understand it is not copyrighted, so have used it and intend to do so. thought of many things before settling on this. thought this truly reflects what we are trying to do.

thanks for the wishes…do give some tips to improve though at indiacod@gmail.com or sanchita@indiacod.com

  10. Hey Ashish,

In my opinion brand awareness reduces a lot of friction during the sales cycle, so it is helpful in the sales process. I don’t know of any known methods to measure the effect of brand awareness on sales, but here is how I would do it.

Assuming selling online (SaaS, e-com, lead generation etc), I would measure search traffic for branded keywords. Ex: Alok Sir once mentioned that the search query on Google that he gets his most traffic from is ‘games2win’. That shows good brand awareness. You could measure the same for your business.

Another way is to use Muti-Channel Funnels in GA. What it will show you is if your customers have had a previous interaction with your brand (on your FB page, blog, Guest blog, Press release etc). Then you can measure the funnels with multiple interactions and compare the conversion with a funnel with low interactions. That way you can have some descent numbers about how brand awareness is helping with sales.

    Hope that helps.
