A platform for Artists in the Entertainment Field – Need Feedback

Dalai Lama says “Share your knowledge. It’s a way to achieve immortality” and so does our very own Sensei – Alok Rodinhood Kejriwal.

So, here’s my appeal to all my fellow Rodinhooders to help me. Some time back I wrote about my failures and how I have become better with every failure I faced. You can read it here

Today, I am writing this post to let you all know that I am now moving further on in my Entrepreneurial Journey, I have started a company recently and I need my fellow Rodinhooder’s help to become successful in my attempt.

What is it : I along with my 2 co-founders am working on a platform to enable artists to promote themselves online. We will be giving online tools and widgets to artists with the help of technology platform to promote themselves.

For Whom : This platform will essentially be for all kind of artists like Singers, Dancers, anchors, stand up comedians, and anybody who can entertain a live audience. Also, Artist managers and event managers who are looking for such people will be benefited.

How will it work : Artists could create a free profile on the platform and can add 1 video of their performance. They will get some value as a free user like Profile, Social sharing , fan management etc. They could then add more widgets and applications and functionality as they upgrade. In the process we will create a directory of artists and will be able to share specific profiles with the managers whenever they require it.

It’s will almost work like a Naukri.com or Justdial.com for Entertainment industry.

How can you contribute :

1) Feedback / Advise : The Prototype is still in the making and that is why I have not shared the link. However, The idea is to create a platform for artists. The execution will be based on a Free Signup for all artists. Later we would introduce paid options and widgets. We would like to know your feedback on the idea. and if you have any advise on execution.

You can check out the current work at www.youthtalenthub.com

2) Advisory Board : We are looking for PR, Media and Industry Professionals who could be the part of our advisory board and can help us with connections in the industry.

3) Funding : Since, this kind of a platform will require a lot of marketing initially, we are also looking for Angel investors who could do the funding. So, if any of you are interested in the plan or you think you know someone who can invest, Please connect them to us.

I earnestly request all of you to help us with any of the above and I look forward to your comments and would love to answer them.

  1. Hi Friends, I was hoping I will get some response on the above , I am eagerly waiting for a feedback and support from my fellow Rodinhooders !

  2. Hi Kamal,

Looks like you have another artistaloud in the making. The concept is good, but when If I was a singer and think to sign up for your website (assuming there is going to be paid susbscription), I would have the following questions.

How is the website going to be increase my visibility. In short what are you going to do to increase traffic on your website.

Setting up good contacts with people who can absorb the talent is the major task you have at hand. Especially if you are not from this industry the challenge for someone to accept your model and help you out in return is going to be daunting. I am sure you would have already though about this. Wish you all the best for this venture.

  3. hey kamal,

i agree with sony. you need to connect  the artists with the other end.

you could also be in touch with colleges/faculties of performing arts, etc – freshers are more open to new ideas.

since you are based in delhi – pls get in touch with neeraj mehta (he was there at the rodinhooder meetup in gurgaon that we all attended). he runs a theatre group & community.

  4. Thanks Sony and Asha for Replying. Our Idea is to promote the artists to the talent management firms , production houses and other avenues where there is a requirement of talent. It will be a shared like a directory of artists to the Event Managers and Casting directors. For Ex. Today if I am an Event Manager and I am looking for an artist in my area, I could then log on to YTH or I could call them up and ask for specific set of artists based on specific filters. I will then share those details with the managers as a lead and will leave it to them to close it.

We will have Free as well as Paid Profiles. Both kind of profiles will be listed in the directory.

Thanks for the lead Asha, I will connect with Neeraj.

  5. Kamal, I think if you are looking for something on this, you need to connect with “Bollywood”

With this, I mean Mumbai should be a part of your Concentration centers, I can recommend Anil Maurya from Mumbai who is also working on almost the Same thing already, talk to him and discuss if you both can work out on something together, Also have a few more people on the list which could be potential connectors for this field, since there are already a lot of sites which are currently doing this, hope you have your Business Model ready to Monetize it and take things further.
Connect with him on dudebuddy20@gmail.com, and +919967928670

(I have been Mentoring him for some time now)

Or share your contact details I can pass it on to him likewise as well 🙂

  6. Hi Dharshan, Thanks a lot for your reply. Yes, you are right, we need to connect with Bollywood, but What I believe is more than bollywood, live entertainment like Events in Corporate and big fat Indian weddings, is also in demand. Bollywood, has plenty of new faces around them, what matters is that these events should be sold to.

I’ll surely connect with Anil, thanks so much for the introduction. Here are my details, you can get in touch with me in case you wanna discuss it further.

    Kamal Kalra ( kamalkalra84@gmail.com ,9999846459

  8. Hi Kamal,

Congratulations on your venture, I would say there are lots of talented people who are waiting to showcase their talent. You would need a big network in creative industry to promote people who register on your website.

I found spell mistake in the word carrier (I think it should be career). Apart from that your website looks fine. It would be great to have some details pertaining to procedure of promotion. If you can ‘HOW’ part of youthtalent hub.

Going by name, it appears to address only few section of talented people (YOUTH), I am not sure if that’s your intention.

  9. Thanks for stopping by Jayesh and sharing your valuable feedback.

Yes, we are working towards creating a channel of opportunities for these talented people. The idea is first create a directory and then take it to everyone who needs it.

About the spelling mistake, Please let me know where did you find it so that we can get it corrected.

Since Youth is the major target audience we have in India, we thought this name was appropriate, but there is not going to be any boundation of age as such. And moreover, Everyone, who is following his/her dreams, becomes youthful again 🙂

For “How” part, you’ll have to wait till the first prototype gets ready..It’s not that I am hiding anything, but the idea is to have Apps and widgets to help artists promote themselves. Also, to have automated tools and algorithms to showcase the top rated artists to the managers.

  10. You Can Get a lot of Ideas, Activities, Connections and Info with links from Mukul Sharma Business Head of Koimoi.com too!!
