I jumped and I am alive #Goodluck

“Pagal ho gayi ho!!!  agar parachute nahi open hua toh? Hum risk nahi lenge.” I was told but I was determined. I wanted to Skydive. Something I started thinking of since I started traveling by plane. The idea to feel the air and Nature from outside in those heights would give me goosebumps and I wanted to feel it. Just do it. Never ever did it scare me at any point in time.I secretly started romancing with this idea in my head. The more I thought, the more I wanted.

That day arrived and I reached Queenstown . I was still being demotivated. All emotional blackmails were done to stop me and try something else .But, I refused to change my decision. We went to book the slot and there strikes my bad luck. They company announced that the day was packed and they just closed with the last booking. The weather prediction for next two days was not good so the activity may not take place at all. And we were to leave the town ,the day after.

I stood still while everyone were all smiles. But,something inside me was very very calm. I had a gut feeling that something still would happen and I will be able to do it.l. We moved out of the office and took a few steps on the road . Hopelessly hopeful, that is how I felt.

While there was a session going on inside the company office for the divers regarding safety instructions and other mental preparations before they left for the fields, someone became weak and backed out .The lady on the counter came chasing us and yipeeeee!!!! I got my bloody good luck!

As I left for the fields boarding the bus,I left all my priced possessions.Materialistic and non materialistic. I did not have a penny in my pocket and absolutely nothing to be worried about.I was just myself. Another round of training happened and we dressed ourselves and boarded the plane.

We went higher and higher. The plane came to a halt at 9000 ft.The pilot announced, “Time now! “.I was the first one to go.My heart skipped a beat this time.Only for once in these days and only for a second I questioned ” if I should go? ” The doors opened. “Come on jump! ” they said. The air outside was freezingly wild. The wind pressure enormous. No. Yes.No and yes I jumped. In the first few seconds ,I didn’t feel if I existed at all. Rolling, twisting, turning ,somersaulting all in the vacuum like atmosphere. I kept my eyes wide open. In another few seconds, I saw something so brilliant, beautiful and divine that I can never be rich enough to explain in words. The experience has just settled in my eyes, mind and memory.

Even today,in my dark and testing days, I close my eyes and revisit it and I overcome anything. I think more than the activity itself,it was a short journey to my inner self. A moment big enough to thank something so incredible from a height. A moment of #goodluck 🙂 Here is what I came back with me in my hand.:)

  1. what an enchanting story nidhi!

made me time travel to 2005. my husband and i were travelling throughout the south island of new zealand. and were booked to go to queenstown for a bit of adventure.

the town before that where we explored was a sleepy university town called dunedin. we simply fell in love with the place and the homestay we were at. even though i wanted to do some adventure sports – we cancelled our trip to queenstown and stayed back.

glad you jumped! will surely jump the next time i get a chance 🙂

pls write to me asha@rodinhood.com to claim your book!
