I am Kunal from Moradabad, a small town in UP. I have recently started my business of wholesale/ distribution of paints, industrial Coatings, thinners, Abrasives, etc. I need your suggestion on taking the route of e-commerce for retail of these products. We already have a multi-brand retail outlet running from last 40 yrs.
Me, being a jack of all trades loves to do DIY things. I want to open an online store where one can buy everything related to paints, hardware, sanitary and DIY tools online. Currently there is no site which is after this segment. As this segment involves bulky goods so there might be logistic issues and operational costs might be high. Taking into consideration all these factors please suggest me how should I proceed further.
Also, I would love to join hands with some fellow Rodinhooder who have the same interests.

These days starting an eCommerce is not a cost. The actual cost is running your store for next 3 yrs to get brand visibility. You would need capital to market the product well so that you don’t go offline after 6 months or 1 year due to low sale.
As an entrepreneurs, when you have your own Retail/Wholesale store, it depends how much time you will have to manage and market the eStore, in case you don’t have time and cannot spare at least 3 to 5hrs daily on your store. I suggest you should look for a vendor/partner.
Now lets come to basic. What is your TG? Are you looking to reach pan India or just wish to address your current location. Since you industry has flammable items which are not supported by any courier and logistic companies. Hence shipping paints, thinners etc would be though job.
Hence if you still wish to go ahead and put up your store, look for items which can easily be shipped and will not land you into trouble. Look at items like lock, door handle, screws, etc which are not flammable, but now the challenge is they are heavy and would have high shipping cost.
