What goes into making a website ? From start to finish ?

Hi ,

I’m sure if this is a no brainer to most people here. But I would appreciate if some one would either explain how one should think about a website ( ecommerce or not ) development process for the first time.

What is Hosting ? On which platform should the site be developed ? What should be kept in mind if future expansion is planned ?

In short from the starting concept to the end website if someone could write a short primer or link me to a page.I tried searching on google but it is all in nerd talk and fragmented.

why don’t you share a bit about yourself, what vertical you are working in (or heading towards?) etc. it would give folks a better idea, where you are coming from 🙂

For your first question it is bit difficult to tell on which platform you should develop your website. That comes under what kind of content or service you going to put on it. If it is simple business website (not eCommerce) then I would recommend WordPress CMS Which is easy and best. And if you thinking to make ecommerce website, then magento, OpenCart, CMS platform is good. One last thing that you should consider whenever you make any website make sure you have SEO friendly urls. So that in future if needed you dont have to rebuild your entire website just because you want to market it online.

How one should think about a website?

Start by reminding yourself, your website isn’t about you.

Think about your customers. What makes your product unique, why would make people buy?

Be customer centric. Design your site around your customers.

Mansoor has already answered your question about hosting, so I won’t go into that, suffice to say that your choice of technology stack depends on the purpose of the website.
