Startup

What if we spin them and give you free offers! Kindly give your suggestions

Hello friends!

I need your views on my idea. Please throw some hard hitting question or any encouragement that’ll help me through.

A platform for different service providers such as restaurants, pubs, saloons, hotels, colleges, institutes, showrooms etc. to display their information, offers, events, virtual tour, video etc. Here people don’t have to pay for the offers like timesdeal, groupon etc.

We plan to start it from Delhi then expand later.

Basically, my idea revolves around one of the services that I offer, which is virtual tours. Virtual tours are similar to google street view. We can have a 360º view of a place from a single point of view. Please follow these links for a demo..

Showroom: https://www.360spinlab.com/portfolio/showroom/sunilmehra/sunilmehra_3dtour.html

Now, this thing is fun, its more of a hobby to me. I love making them.

I recently covered whole of shimla… you just have to keep clicking on points to move forward or backward

https://www.360spinlab.com/blog/shimla/virtualtour.html

Ok! getting back to the idea..

  • From the service providers, we will charge a subscription fee of Rs. 2000 for 6 months and on the first subscription,
  • we will offer them 2 virtual tours for free (2 virtual tours would cost them around Rs. 10k -12k in market) and a business page, which would be attached to their account. They can edit their information by themselves.
  • These virtual tours can be embedded on their personal website or any other through a code. These tours will carry our logo and ads if any.
  • They can buy these tours from us any time at market rates, where they will get all the data, otherwise they are dependent on us for the hosting.
  • Now incase their requirement is more than 2 tours, they can choose from a personalized (market rate) and cheaper plan.

The business model is to spend money upfront on pipeline and infrastructure and start earning from the subscriptions, ads and the services we offer. and creating value by providing people with free offers and sharing valuable information with them.

We think that if we offer service providers value for money, plus so many value added features and the exposure that will come through by the free offers that people are going to get.., will encourage more people to spend that small sum and get listed. Plus it will be a different thing for people to get a glimpse of the infrastructure so clearly through virtual tours.

I hope we can earn some trust from people.

All your comment are very valuable and I am sure, I will be able to fix any aspect that I am missing here.

Thank you

Amir Raza

  1. amir… you said you covered simla. did u approach any travel-related site?

in your previous post, i distinctly remember mk suggesting you to reach out to the tourism boards…. any luck there?

  2. I only shot it a week back. I will definitely approach some travel related sites for it.

Actually, I was busy meeting and shooting colleges, as it was their peak time for marketing. Now I will try my luck at different things, including tourism boards. Infact, We had an opportunity to cover whole of Uttarakhand which included some video shoots and virtual tours, approval for the project was due, but unfortunately, the disaster happened and the project has been postponed for some time.

  3. pls check this post’s comments – there are some travel related sites mentioned.

also, i will connect you with all the travel-related rodinhooders… so they can suggest as well.

  4. This post’s comments??

  5. last year i had got chance to work on virtual tours , ! main problem i was facing was photographer .! best of luck .! this is surely a good concept , only minus point for virtual tours business is that it is easy to build ..! Many software are providing one click solutions .! thus we need to give low cost solution

  6. thanx for replying Nitish. No software offers you one click solution. There are so many things involved, before you reach that stage of one click.

  7. pls get in touch with these rodinhooders who have travel-related ventures

  9. Hey Amir,

I just loved your work – the quality, response time, functionality, and the value that it could add to your target B2B customers (Travel, Real Estate, Events etc).  Noticed some minor photo overlap issues in your Shimla virtual tour, where half the body of a person is cut out…but I guess that’s one of the challenges you’d have working in high traffic zones.

About your new idea…personally I am not a big fan of building brand loyalty just on the basis of “free stuff”. Think of it this way, how many different business models exist around the same concept of telling a customer that “If do a certain action, then you’ll get a certain reward”. In your case, you’re saying, “View the brand’s virtual tour, and get free offers”.

I would kinda step back and ask, why are you thinking of incorporating a B2C model, into what is clearly a B2B model? Whose problem are you trying to solve…your problem, or your B2B customer problem?:

    1. Are you facing challenges in your existing business model (pricing, target customers, ROI, sales cycle, execution challenges etc)
    2. Are your B2B customers not seeing enough value for the services that you offer (e.g. Avg time per page Before 360spinlab: 30 sec After: 40 sec – i.e. not a significant jump OR Number of event sign ups Before 360spinlab: 100, After: 105)?
    3. Are your B2B customers finding it hard to showcase their virtual tours, and hence you think that by enticing the end consumer with free offers, you’ll at least get them to view these virtual tours?

I think the product that you’ve developed seems very high quality, and you should maintain the premium feel of the product by focusing on the right B2B customers. Thinking aloud, I don’t think nearly as much as 25% of auto companies would have a 3D view of their cars in the quality that you have.

Can you think of making a product out of your services, such that it’s scalable? View https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLFnWGciLI8

How about partnering with some Augmented Reality guys, and integrate your offering into their products?

    Regards,

    Vikram

  10. Thank you Vikram for taking out time and sharing all the views.

Thank you again for appreciating my work, it means a lot.

Yes there is a problem, when I shoot at crowded places like Shimla or events.

Actually we are not asking people to “View brand’s virtual tour and get free offers”, but we are saying that enjoy the free offers and see their profile and check the virtual tour to see whether the place matches your taste, simple and easy.

There are a lot of service providers out there, some of them can afford our services, while other’s not. There are people, who are afraid to invest in it, because they are susceptible whether it will give them value.

So basically we are trying to solve our problem and our B2B client’s problem.

    • Our problem, because we are bound to only certain section of market, it is still huge, I know.. but it is there, not running away. If we are able to get exposure through an innovative idea, these people would know us, without us approaching them.
    • And client’s problem by linking B2B model to B2C model and thus giving both of them value added services.

We are proposing 2 virtual tours for free for a small subscription value or more than 2 at small extra sum.

Wouldn’t it degrade the premium feel of our services?

Yes somehow, but if we look at it from another perspective, it will give us more clients and thus more exposure. We wont share the virtual tour data with them but would make it available on our website. They can be embedded it to their website through a code, so they are bound to pay us subscription to continue the services. They can buy these tours from us anytime at the market rate.

The idea of free offer is to give these brands exposure. It has two dimensions, an informational website for people, where they can enjoy the offers given away by service providers for free, which is B2C model and the B2B model, where we provide them our services and offer them more value than any service provider offers them today.

I know it all seems too ambitious, but may be trying to get into market through different approach can give us much better yields then the present one does.

    • Virtual tours doesn’t make website heavy as it is a different web page.
    •  I am aware of the 360 product photography. This is quite a trend in US, but in its infancy here. Sooner or later, I have to do it. That’s why it is 360spinlab.. there’s always something 360 cooking in lab.
    •  I haven’t tried the auto market yet.. will definitely want to get in touch with some people there.

I am sure, I am able portray my idea better this time.. and you can share some valuable inputs.

    Regards,

    Amir
